Gratiot County Hope House has become

Hope WOrks Mid-Michigan

In the summer of 2025 we were asked to consider expanding our work into Clinton & Shiawassee Counties. Through a lot of hard work and incredible partnerships with service providers in those communities, we opened a second emergency shelter in Owosso to serve Shiawassee County soon to be followed by a shelter in St. Johns to serve Clinton County.

To help accomplish this growth we became: "Hope Works Mid-Michigan" - Because every story deserves hope.

We also want to make certain that our supporters in Gratiot County know that this expansion has not adversely affected our work where it all started, in the Gratiot County community.  To ensure that we are able to continue serving our most vulnerable neighbors right here at home, funds raised in Gratiot County will be reinvested in direct services to our Gratiot County shelter guests. This means that money raised in Gratiot County will stay in Gratiot County. Likewise money raised in Shiawassee & Clinton Counties will stay in those counties. To make this transition easy, our online giving is now set up for donors to select what county their donation should support. You can check that out by clicking the "Donate" button.

Stay tuned for more info to come as we role out this change and expansion, including a new website, new print material, and much more.

Our Mission

At Hope Works Mid-Michigan our mission is to meet the temporary housing needs of Mid-Michigan with the Compassion, Grace, & Hope of God, because every story deserves hope. We like to think that we are not just a shelter, but that instead we are a safe place where those who find themselves in need housing can find refuge and solace as they work to navigate their situation.  It is not enough for us to simply provide beds to those experiencing homelessness, but rather to do so in a way that helps them know their worth and value as people.  It is our desire that each one who crosses our threshold experiences true compassion, deep grace, and profound hope.
